In the Championship: Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho continued his impressive form in front of goal, as he scored in Leicester City’s 3-1 away win at Swansea in the Championship on Saturday. Iheanacho replaced Jamie Vardy in the 84th, and made it 3-1 for the Foxes three minutes later.
The 27-year-old has now scored in four straight league games for Leicester, and recorded six goals with two assists in 14 appearances in all competitions this season.
Also in action for the Foxes was Wilfred Ndidi who played for the entire duration of the game.
In the Premier League: Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka was in action for Brentford in their 3-0 home win against Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday. Onyeka played for 84 minutes in the encounter.
At the City Ground, Nigerian defender Ola Aina started from the bench for Nottingham Forest in their 2-2 draw with Luton Town on Saturday. Aina replaced Serge Aurier in the 88th minute.
His compatriot, Taiwo Awoniyi missed the game due to injury.
In Scotland: Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers scored for Rangers in their 4-0 home win against Hibernian on Saturday. The 28-year-old scored in the 79th minute to record his second goal in eight league appearances in the Scottish Premier League this season. He has however scored four goals with two assists in all competitions.
In Italy: Ademola Lookman scored for Atalanta in their 2-0 win over Genoa on Sunday. Lookman put Atalanta infront in the 68th minute, and had another one disallowed by the VAR three minutes later.
The 26-year-old has now scored three goals in nine league appearances this season.
In France: Super Eagles winger Moses Simon bagged an assist as Nantes defeated Montpellier 2-0 in their Ligue 1 clash on Sunday afternoon.
Simon set up Abdoul Kader Bamba for the Canaries second goal in the 74th minute. The 28-year-old has made nine league appearances for the club, and has recorded two goals with four assists this season.
Another Nigerian, Akor Adams was in also action for Montpellier in the encounter.
In Germany: Victor Boniface bagged an assist for Bayer Leverkusen in their 2-1 win over Wolfsburg in Saturday’s Bundesliga game. The Nigerian international has scored seven goals with three assists in eight league appearances for the league leaders this season.
Super Eagles defender, Kevin Akpoguma was in action as Hoffenheim lost 3-1 to Eintracht Frankfurt in Saturday’s Bundesliga game. The Nigerian international who was making his fourth league appearance was substituted in the 46th minute for John Brooks.
In Saudi Arabia: Henry Onyekuru was on the score sheet again and also provided an assist, in Al Fayha’s 2-1 away win against Al Akhdoud in the Saudi Arabia Premier League on Friday.
Al Akhdoud’s only goal was scored by another Nigerian, and former Golden Eaglets and Flying Eagles forward Saviour Godwin.
Onyekuru gave Al Fayha the lead in the 29th minute before Godwin made it 1-1 in four minutes of added time in the first half. Onyekuru then turned provider in the 66th minute as he set up Fashion Sakala for the winner.
Onyekuru has now scored two goals in 10 league appearances for Al Fayha this season. Godwin also has two league goals after five outings in the Saudi league.
Also in action alongside Onyekuru for Al Fayha was Anthony Nwakaeme.
In Women’s football: Super Falcons striker Asisat Oshoala scored two goals as Barcelona Femeni thrashed Granada 6-1 in the Spanish women’s league on Saturday. Oshoala first goal came in the 80th minute to put Barcelona 5-0 ahead, and just two minutes later she got her second and Barcelona’s sixth goal of the game. The 29-year-old now has now recorded three goals in five appearances for the champions this season.
