At the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan, Shooting Stars Sports Club came from a goal down to beat Doma United 3-1 on Sunday. Nelson Abiam gave Doma United the lead just nine minutes into the game, but 3SC equalised through Gbologade Adelowo from the penalty spot on the stroke of halftime.
Kareem Ayinde gave the Oluyole Warriors the lead for the first time in the 60th minute, and Gideon Monday put the icing on the cake three minutes into stoppage time. 3SC have now moved to second on the log with 10 points from five matches, same points with leaders Enugu Rangers.
Enugu Rangers secured top spot in the Nigeria Premier Football League after coming from behind to beat Kano Pillars 4-1 at the Awka City Stadium on Saturday. Muhammad Yakubu gave Kano Pillars the lead in the 11th minute, but Rangers levelled from the spot through Godwin Obaje in the 24th minute.
Isaac Saviour gave Rangers the lead in the 54th minute, while Nwaodu Chukwudi later scored twice to wrap up scoring for the Flying Antelopes.
Alex Oyowah scored the decisive goal as Rivers United ended Lobi Stars’ unbeaten run with a 1-0 win at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt on Sunday. Oyowah scored the only goal in the 42nd minute to hand the Pride of Rivers the second win of the season.
Abia Warriors also beat Heartland of Owerri 1-0 in the Oriental derby on Sunday, with Meme Okike scoring the decisive goal just eight minutes into the encounter. Heartland remain without a win after five matches in the league this season.
At the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, Katsina United defeated Sunshine Stars of Akure 3-2 in a five-goal thriller. Bello Lukman with a brace, and Michael Ibe were on target for Katsina United. Michael Olalusi also scored the two goals for Sunshine.
Katsina United remain unbeaten in their last three games, while Sunshine Stars remain without a win in their last four matches.
At the Pantami Township Stadium, Sadiq Shuabu scored from the spot in added minutes of the game as Gombe United defeated Plateau United 1-0 on Saturday. Shuabu was however sent off three minutes after scoring the decisive goal.
Former champions Akwa United held Bendel Insurance to a goalless draw at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City on Saturday. Akwa United remain without a win after five games this season.
