In the Premier League: Super Eagles striker, Taiwo Awoniyi scored for Nottingham Forest in their 3-2 defeat a West Ham in Sunday’s Premier League. Awoniyi, who was making his 10th appearance, has scored four goals and bagged two assists in the ongoing League for Nottingham Forest.
His compatriot, Ola Aina also had a decent performance as he had an assist in the game. Awoniyi leveled for Forest a minute before halftime after Lucas Paqueta fired the West Ham ahead in the third minute. Ola Aina assisted Anthony Elanga to put Forest infront in the 63rd minute. But Jarrod Bowen leveled for the Hammers, before Soucek’s late winner.
Super Eagles midfielder, Frank Onyeka came on as a second half substitution in Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Brentford in Sunday’s Premier League game. Onyeka, who was making his 10th appearance for Brentford came on at the start of the second half. He has only recorded one assist this season.
At Villa Park, Alex Iwobi was in action as Fulham lost 3-1 to Aston Villa in Sunday’s Premier League game. The Nigerian international, who was making his eight appearance, is yet to record a goal in the league this season. He was however substituted in the 82nd minute of the encounter.
In Germany: New Super Eagles invitee, Nathan Tella scored his first goal in the Bundesliga for Bayer Leverkusen as they thrashed Union Berlin 4-0 on Sunday. Tella, who came on with nine minutes left, scored in the 83rd minute to make it 4-0 for the Xabi Alonso team.
Also in action for Leverkusen was his compatriot Victor Boniface, who was substituted in the 87th minute.
Tella got his first Super Eagles call-up for this month’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.
In Turkey: Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu scored a brace for Trabzonspor in their 2-1 win over Konyaspor on Friday. Onuachu opened the scoring in the 59th minute, and scored the winning tin the 85th minute. He has now scored six goals in eight league games for Trabzonspor this season.
In France: Moses Simon was on target but ended on the losing side as Nantes fell to a 3-1 defeat against Metz in their French Ligue 1 games at the Stade Saint-Symphorien on Sunday afternoon.
The 27-year-old equalised for Nantes in the 12th minute after Metz took the lead in the 3rd minute through Kevin Van Den Kerkhof.
Simon has now scored three goals and provided four assists in 12 league appearances for the Canaries this season.
Terem Moffi was in action for Nice against Akor Adams’ Montpellier in their goalless draw on Friday night. Adams, who has scored seven league goals this season was in action for the entire duration, while Moffi with three league goals this season played for 66 minutes.
In Scotland: Nigerian striker Cyriel Dessers was on target for Rangers in their 2-0 win at Livingston, in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday. The 28–year-old broke the deadlock in the 26th minute to give Rangers the lead. It is Dessers’ fourth goal in 11 appearances in the the league this season.
His Nigerian teammate Leon Balogun played for 90 minutes in the game which was his third league appearance this season.
In Italy: Super Eagles defender, Tyronne Ebuehi bagged an assist for Empoli as the stunned Napoli 1-0 away from home in Sunday’s Serie A game. The Nigerian international, who was making his ninth appearance assisted Viktor Kovalenko for the winning goal in added minutes of the game.
Victor Osimhen was missing in action for Napoli due to injury.
Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze provided an assist for AC Milan in their 2-2 draw away to Lecce in the Serie A on Saturday. It is Chukwueze’s first assist in eight appearances in the Italian league since moving from Villarreal in the summer.
Issac Success missed a penalty for Udinese in their 1-1 draw against Ademola Lookman’s Atalanta on Sunday. Success had the chance to put Udinese infront in the 31st minute, but missed from the spot. His compatriot Lookman came on for Atalanta at the start of the season half.
In Women’s football: Super Falcons striker Asisat Oshoala scored a brace to help Barcelona beat Villarreal 6-0 in the Spanish women’s league on Saturday. The star striker doubled Barcelona’s lead in the 24th minute before adding the sixth goal in the 85th minute. The 29-year-old has now scored five goals in seven league appearances this season.
