Three-time African champions, Nigeria lost by two un-replied goals to Guinea in a friendly game played in Abu Dhabi earlier today.
The game played at the Baniyas Stadium saw the Super Eagles of Nigeria parade Chippa United’s goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali in goal.
Nigeria who had earlier defeated a Dubai-based club 12-0 less than twenty four hours ago went behind has early as the 14th minute through a strike from Aguibou Camara. Moses Simon could have restored parity moments later but he missed a 20th minute penalty kick.
Brave goalkeeping from Guinea’s Ibrahim Koné preserved the lead till Facinet Conté scored the winner in the 64th minute of the encounter.
The Nigerian contingent is expected in Nigeria later tomorrow where they will be hosted to a send-off ceremony by the Lagos State Government before departing to Abidjan venue of the group games for Nigeria.
Nigeria’s first game at the African Cup of Nations will be against Equatorial Guinea on January 14th at the Olympic Stadium of Ebimpé. The kickoff is 3pm Nigerian Time.
