The January transfer market is starting to pick up steam as teams begin to narrow down their top targets.
And it’s been an eventful weekend to say the least. Away from all the FA Cup action, teams have been planning their January signings. Tottenham made a surprise move to sign former Chelsea forward Timo Werner from Red Bull Leipzig on loan. Kylian Mbappe’s future at Paris Saint-Germain was also discussed last night, with rumours circulating that he will sign for Real Madrid later this summer.
However, there is still a great deal of uncertainty around the futures of Kalvin Phillips of Man City and Jadon Sancho of Man United. There is even more talk that Sancho may make a return to Borussia Dortmund.

According to the Sun, Chelsea are reportedly ‘hopeful’ of signing Jordan Henderson from Al-Ettifaq. It comes after it emerged that the England midfielder is eager to return to the Premier League, a move that could cost him millions in tax and lost wages. But this has put Maurico Pochettino’s side on ‘high-alert’ to sign him.
The Blues are also prepared to pay Napoli star Victor Osimhen’s £103million (€120m) release clause and will act quickly to secure the striker. (Il Mattino)
Manchester United and Newcastle could be set to swoop in for Barcelona defender Andreas Christensen. The 27-year-old departed Chelsea in 2022 and has made 52 appearances across all competitions for the LaLiga giants. But the Premier League outfits are interested in signing him in January. (Sport)
