Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro has revealed that Leicester City’s forward Kelechi Iheanacho is now ready to join the rest of the Super Eagles squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.
Iheanacho has completed treatment at Leicester, following a muscular injury. “Kelechi will arrive Cote d’Ivoire. He has finished the treatment at Leicester City,” Peseiro told NFF media on Monday.
The 27-year-old is expected to join his teammates in Lagos later today when they will be hosted to a send forth dinner by Lagos State governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
However, his Leicester City teammate, Wilfred Ndidi has already been ruled of the AFCON tournament due to injury.
Bayer Leverkusen striker, Victor Boniface will also miss the competition after sustaining a groin injury in training.
The Super Eagles will compete in Group A of this year’s AFCON with host county Cote d’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea-Bissau.
Nigeria’s first game will be against Equatorial Guinea on January 14th at the Olympic Stadium of Ebimpé. The kickoff is 3pm Nigerian Time.
