Trabzonspor striker Paul Onuachu has bet called up as a replacement for injured Umar Sadiq in the Super Eagles’ squad for the 2023 Nations Cup.
Umar Sadiq has been ruled out of the tournament due to the injury he sustained in the 2-0 defeat against the Syli Stars of Guinea on Monday.
The Real Sociedad striker becomes the third Super Eagles player to be ruled out of the AFCON, after Wilfred Ndidi and Victor Boniface were replaced by Alhassan Yusuf and Terem Moffi respectively.
Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro has now handed a late call up to Paul Onuachu. The 29-year-old has scored nine goals with three assists in all competitions for Trabzonspor this season.
Victor Osimhen is now be the only fit striker available for the game against Equatorial Guinea, as Kelechi Iheanacho and Terem Moffi I will join the team in Saturday and Sunday respectively.
