Super Eagles of Nigeria have moved up 14 places in the latest FIFA men’s ranking released on Thursday. The Nigerian national team move from the 42nd position to the 28th in the world.
The new ranking released by the world football governing body also shows that the three-time African champions is now the 3rd best ranked team in Africa after moving from sixth position to third on the continent. This new position of the Super Eagles on the world rankings is their highest since May 2013.
African champions Cote d’Ivoire have climbed 10 places, moving from 49th in the world to 39th, while Morocco and Senegal maintained their lead as the best African teams.
Nigeria finished second at the just concluded AFCON, losing 2-1 to hosts Cote d’Ivoire in final.
The top 10 teams in the world are all unchanged, as world champions Argentina remain number one in the world, while France and Brazil maintain their second and third positions respectively.
The next edition of the FIFA/Coca-Cola Men’s World Ranking will be published on 4 April.
