Chelsea Football Club are reportedly prepared to trigger the €130m (£111m) release clause in Victor Osimhen’s Napoli contract in order to bring him to Stamford Bridge during the summer’s transfer window.
The 25-year-old scored 26 Serie A goals last season to help Napoli win the league title for the first time in 33 years. The Nigerian striker signed a new contract with the Naples club last December until June 2026, but he’s now set to leave the Italian champions.
According to Italian journalist Rudy Galetti, Chelsea are planning to ‘speed things up’ for Osimhen. Galetti claims that Chelsea have already agreed to pay Napoli the full €130m (£111m) release clause, and the London club will soon meet up with Napoli officials to finalise a payment structure.
PSG are also said to see Osimhen as a possible replacement for Kylian Mbappe, who has informed the club that he will be leaving on a free transfer this summer.
Osimhen has only managed eight goals with three assists in 18 appearances this season and has recently been absent for Napoli as he represented the Super Eagles of Nigeria at the just concluded Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
