The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) are in discussion with coach Jose Peseiro over a new contract. The Portuguese contract with the NFF expires after the AFCON in Ivory Coast, and has received several offers from different clubs and countries.
Peseiro led Nigeria to win silver medal at the just concluded Africa Cup of Nations. He confirmed a couple of weeks ago he has been contacted by the Algeria Football Federation to be the new head coach of the country’s national team.
The gaffer agreed to take the Super Eagles to the AFCON despite having his salary reduced from $70,000 to $50,000. His performance seems to have added to his values and the football body in Nigeria has commenced a contract negotiation with him.
According to reports, the Minister for Sports, John Enoh has instructed the NFF to improve the offer made to Peseiro to $70,000 a month as opposed to the $50,00 he was offered for his extension, the same as the salary he was on before taking the Super Eagles to the final of the AFCON in Cote d’Ivoire.
