In the Premier League, Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka provided an assist as Brentford held Chelsea to a 2-2 draw in Saturday’s Premier League game. Onyeka set up Yoane Wissa for Brentford’s second goal in the 69th minute with a superb bicycle kick.
At the Craven Cottage, Super Eagles duo of Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey were in action for Fulham who defeated Brighton 3-0 on Saturday. Bassey played for 90 minutes, while Iwobi was taken off in the 69th minutes for Willian.
At the City Ground, Taiwo Awoniyi came on in the 65th minute for Nottingham Forest in the 1-0 defeat to Liverpool on Saturday. A stoppage time goal by Darwin Nunez saw Liverpool run away with all the three points.
In the Championship, Joe Aribo was the hero as Southampton defeated Birmingham City 4-3 at the St Andrew’s on Saturday. Aribo came off the bench to score the winning goal deep into stoppage time to help Southampton run away with all the three points which is a boast for their promotion bid. The 27-year-old has now scored three goals in 24 league appearances for the Saints this season.
In Italy, Ademola Lookman was on target for Atalanta who lost 1-2 at home to Bologna in the Serie A on Sunday. The Nigerian forward opened scoring for Atalanta in the 28th minute but Bologna came from behind to win the game. Lookman has recorded eight goals with three assists in 21 league games this season.
Victor Osimhen missed a penalty as Napoli battled to a 2-1 home victory over Juventus on Sunday. Napoli was awarded a penalty in the 86th minute after Osimhen was fouled in the box. The Super Eagles striker stepped forward to take the spot kick, but was parried away by Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny. However, Giacomo Raspadori scored the rebound to earn Napoli all the three points.
In France, Super Eagles forward Terem Moffi was on target for OGC Nice in their 2-1 defeat to their hosts Toulouse on Sunday. Moffi put Nice in front in the 8th minute of the games. He has now scored seven goals with two assists in 20 league appearances for the Les Aiglons this season.
In another venue, Akor Adams was in action for 80 minutes for Montpellier as they played out a 2-2 draw with Strasbourg in Sunday’s Ligue 1 game. Adams, who was making his 22 appearance, has netted seven goals and bagged two yellow cards in the ongoing league this season.
Moses Simon was in an action for 90 minutes for FC Nantes as they lost 0-2 at home to Metz on Sunday. Simon has registered three goals with five assists in 20 league appearances this season.
In Germany, Nathan Tella was a second half substitute as Bayer Leverkusen defeated Cologne 2-0 in Sunday’s Bundesliga game, to extend their lead to 10 points over Bayern Munich on the league table. The Nigerian forward was making his 15th appearance, and has scored four goals with one assist this season.
In Turkey, Bright Osayi-Samuel was on target for Fenerbahce who defeated Hatayspor 2-0 away in the Turkish Super Lig on Saturday. The Super Eagles player opened the scoring in the 24th minute following an assist for Edin Dzeko. The 26-year-old has now scored three goals in 14 league appearances for the Turkish giants.
Also in action in the game was Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, who came on in the 61st minute for Hatayspor.
In Belgium, Chidera Ejuke got a goal and an assist for Royal Antwerp in their 3-0 win over Truidense on Sunday. The 26-year-old has now registered three goals with three assists this season. His compatriot, Alhassan Yusuf was also in action for Royal Antwerp in the game.
