Arsenal have been sent out of the UEFA Champions League after they were beaten 1-0 by Bayern Munich at Allianz Arena on Wednesday.
Joshua Kimmich scored the decisive goal with a powerful header in the 63rd minute, as the Germans progress to the semi-finals 3-2 on aggregate after the two teams had drawn 2-2 at the Emirates Stadium in the first leg.
Bayern Munich had endured a poor domestic season and were without key players Serge Gnabry and Kingsley Coman because of injury.
The game was seen as an ideal opportunity for the Gunners to reach a Champions League semi-final for the first time for 15 years against a Bayern side who have performed poorly by their high standards this season, and were under huge pressure to appease their fans by delivering a Champions League night to remember.
Bayern will lock horns with 14-time champions Real Madrid in the semi-finals, with the tie set to take place on April 30 or May 1 and May 7 or 8.
With Arsenal now out of Europe, they have to regroup quickly and keep themselves in the hunt for the Premier League. They cannot afford to drop any more points, after losing their place at the top of the log to Manchester City following a 2-0 defeat at home to Aston Villa over the weekend.
