In the Championship, Super Eagles midfielder Joe Aribo was on target for Southampton in their 2-1 defeat against Cardiff City on Saturday. Aribo gave the Saints the lead with his 4th goal of the season in the 12th minute, but Cardiff fought back after the break with Famara Diedhiou equalising in the 65th minute, and Cian Ashford netted the winner in stoppage time.
Wilfred Ndidi netted also scored for Leicester City in their 2-1 win over West Bromwich Albion at the King Power Stadium on Saturday. Ndidi gave the Foxes the lead in the 22nd minute. The-26-year also has registered five goals with six assists in all competitions this season.
Ndidi’s compatriot Kelechi Iheanacho was not paraded by Leicester City in the game, while Josh Maja featured as a second half substitute for West Brom, and Semi Ajayi was an unused substitute.
In Scotland, Nigerian striker Cyriel Dessers double send Rangers FC into the Scottish Cup final on Sunday, as they beat Hearts 2-0. Dessers opened the scoring in the 5th minute, and doubled the lead 12 minutes from time. The Super Eagles striker has registered 19 goals with six assists in all competitions this season.
His compatriot, Leon Balogun was also in action for Rangers for the entire duration of the game.
In Belgium, Chidera Ejuke was the hero as Royal Antwerp recorded a 1-0 away win against Cercle Brugge at the Jay Breydelstadion on Sunday. The winger scored the decisive goal in the 66th minute to earn Royal Antwerp all three points. The 26-year-old has now scored four goals in 25 league appearances this season. His compatriot Alhassan Yusuf featured as a substitute seven minutes from time in the game.
In the Premier League, Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey both featured in Fulham’s 1-3 home defeat against Liverpool on Sunday. Iwobi was replaced five minutes from time, while Bassey played for full 90 minutes.
In Italy, Ademola Lookman provided two assists for Atalanta in their 2-1 away win at Monza on Sunday. Lookman set up Charles De Ketelaere for the opening goal a minute before halftime, and in the 72nd minute, he assisted El Bilai Toure for the second goal. The Super Eagles player has registered eight goals with six assists in the league this season.
Victor Osimhen played for full 90 minutes for Napoli in their 1-0 defeat at Empoli on Saturday. The Super Eagles striker has scored 13 league goals this season.
Super Eagles goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye was in action for Udinese as he conceded a late goal in their 1-0 defeat at Verona, in the Italian Serie A on Saturday. Also in action for Udinese are his compatriots, Isaac Success, who came on in the 92nd minute and Kingsley Ehizibue who played for 81 minutes.
It was Okoye’s 16th league appearance while Success and Ehizibue made their 23rd and 18th appearances respectively.
In France, Terem Moffi played for Nice in their 3-0 win over Lorient on Friday night. Moffi was substituted in the 71st minute, and has registered 10 league goals with two assists this season .
In Germany, Victor Boniface and Nathan Tella were both in action for Bayer Leverkusen in their 1-1 draw at Dortmund on Sunday. Tella played for 70 minutes, while Boniface came on as a substitute in the 83rd minute.
In Women’s football, Super Falcons star Rasheedat Ajibade scored a goal and provided assist for Atletico Madrid women’s in their 5-1 win over Betis women on Sunday. The 24-year-old has registered six league goals with five assists this season.
