In Turkey, Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu scored a hat-trick and also provided an assist for Trabzonspor in their 4-2 win over Gaziantep in the Turkish Super Lig on Sunday. Onuachu played for 80 minutes in the game, and has scored 12 goals with four assists in 18 league appearances this season.
In Scotland, Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers scored the winner for Rangers in their 2-1 away win at St. Mirren in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday. Dessers netted Rangers’ second goal which put them 2-1 up in the 74th minute. The striker has now taken his tally to 20 goals with six assists in all competitions this season. Also in action for Ranger was his compatriot, Leon Balogun who played for 90 minutes.
In the Premier League, Alex Iwobi was in action for 90 minutes in Fulham’s 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace at the Craven Cottage on Saturday. It was Iwobi’s 250th Premier League appearance. Former Newcastle United forward, Shola Ameobi top the chart with 298 appearances, while Nwankwo Kanu is second with 273, Yakubu Aiyegbeni, Iwobi and Mikel Obi occupy the 3rd, 4th, and 5th positions respectively.
Ola Aina was in action for Nottingham Forest in their 2-0 home loss to Manchester City in Sunday’s Premier League game. Aina, who was making his 20th league appearance played for 90 minutes. The 27-year-old defender has registered one goal and one assist this season.
In Italy, Victor Osimhen netted a goal in Napoli’s 2-2 draw against Roma in Sunday’s Serie A game. The Nigerian international made it 2-1 for Napoli after he calmly converted a penalty in the 84th minute, but Roma equalised in the 89th minute through Tammy Abraham. Osimhen, who was making his 22th league appearance, has scored 13 goals with three assists this season.
In another venue, Ademola Lookman was on target for Atalanta in their 2-0 win over Empoli in Sunday’s Serie A game. The Nigerian international has now scored nine goals with six assists in 27 league appearances this season.
Nigerian winger, Samuel Chukwueze was in action as AC Milan who hold Juventus to a goalless draw in Saturday’s Serie A game. The Nigerian international came on as a substitute for Christian Pulisic in the 83rd minute. He has made 22 league appearances, with one goal and two assists this season.
In Germany, the duo of Victor Boniface and Nathan Tella started from the bench for champions, Bayer Leverkusen in their 2-2 draw against Stuttgart on Saturday to maintain their unbeaten run in the Bundesliga. Boniface, who was making his 30th appearance in all competitions, has scored 18 goals with nine assists for Leverkusen this ongoing season. On the other hand, Tella has netted six goals with two assists in all competitions.
In Women’s football, Super Falcons star Rasheedat Ajibade scored for the second game in a row, as Atletico de Madrid women’s team in their 2-0 win over Real Sociedad on Sunday. The 24-year-old has registered seven league goals with five assists this season.
