Rivers United have announced the appointment of the immediate past Super Eagles coach, Finidi George as their new Technical Manager.
The NPFL club made the announcement on Tuesday, and Finidi will be unveiled in Port Harcourt on Thursday.
Rivers United sacked long-serving tactician Stanley Eguma towards the end of last season, and Evans Ogenyi led the team for the remainder of the campaign.
Finidi led Enyimba to win the 2022/23 NPFL title, before he was appointed Super Eagles head coach in May. However, he resigned his position as Eagles coach following the NFF’s decision to appoint a foreign technical adviser after the team’s poor performance in their FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Finidi George expressed his gratitude to the club, saying: “I am honored to have this opportunity, and I thank the Sports Commissioner, the General Manager, and the supporters for their confidence in me. I am committed to working hard and making the team win.”
Dr. Okey Kpalukwu, General Manager of Rivers United FC, welcomed Finidi, stating: “We are delighted to have Finidi George join our team. His appointment marks a new chapter in our club’s history, and we are committed to working together to achieve success.”
