In the Premier League, Nigerian international Alex Iwobi was on target for Fulham in two 2-1 win over Leicester City on Saturday. Iwobi fired home the winning goal 20 minutes from time. The 28-year-old has now scored for 10 consecutive seasons in the Premier League, the second Nigerian to achieve the feat after Kanu Nwankwo who scored in 12 consecutive Premier League seasons during his stint with Arsenal, West Bromwich Albion and Portsmouth.
The duo of Calvin Bassey and Wilfred Ndidi were also in action for Fulham and Leicester City respectively in the game.
Ola Aina played full 90 minutes for Nottingham Forest in their 1-0 away win over Joe Aribo’s Southampton on Saturday. Taiwo Awoniyi was a second half substitute for Forest, while Joe Aribo was replaced in the 76th minute for Southampton.
In the Championship, Josh Maja scored the winning goal for West Brom in their 2-1 win over Stoke City on Saturday. The 25-year old has now scored four goals in three league games this season. Super Eagles defender, Semi Ajayi was also in action for West Brom from start to finish in the encounter.
In France, Super Eagles winger Moses Simon scored his first goal of the season as Nantes defeated Auxerre 2-0 in their French Ligue 1 clash on Sunday. Simon opened the scoring in the 14th minute of the game to put his team in front. The winger was replaced by Mostafa Mohamed 12 minutes from time after a decent performance. His compatriot Gabriel Osho was in action for Auxerre in the game.
In Scotland, Cyriel Dessers scored twice for Rangers in their 6-0 win over Ross County on Saturday. The Nigerian striker opened the scoring in the 18th minute, and got his brace in the 58th minute. His compatriot, Leon Balogun was introduced into the game a few minutes before halftime.
In the Spanish LaLiga, Nigerian striker Umar Sadiq was in action for Real Sociedad who beat Espanyol 1-0 to register their first win of the season in the Spanish topflight on Saturday. Sadiq was introduced in the 67th minute for his first appearance in the league this season.
In another game, Christantus Uche saw action for 90 minutes as Getafe played out a goalless draw at home against Vallecano on Saturday. Uche marked his LaLiga debut by netting Getafe’s goal in their 1-1 draw away to Athletic Bilbao two week ago.
In Germany, Victor Boniface was unable to get on the scoresheet, hitting the woodwork once, as Bayer Leverkusen snatched a late 3-2 victory away at Borussia Monchengladbach in their first Bundesliga game of the season on Friday night.
In Saudi Arabia, Nigerian defender William Troost-Ekong made his debut for Al Kholood Club in their 1-0 defeat at home, in the Saudi Pro League season-opener gainst Al Ittihad on Saturday. The 30-year-old was in action for the entire duration of the game.
