Nigeria’s representative in the 2024/25 CAF Champions League, Remo Stars have been eliminated from the competition following a 2-0 second leg defeat to AS FAR of Morocco on Sunday.
Remo Stars won the first leg 2-1 in Nigeria a couple of days ago, but lost the preliminary round contest 3-2 on aggregate.
The first half of the second leg game ended goalless despite relentless pressure from the host. However, the home team took the lead in the 53rd minute through Joel Beya.
The Moroccan club were awarded a penalty 12 minutes from time after Ifeanyi Anaemena pulled an opponent inside the box, and El Amine Zouhzouh converted the spot kick to throw Remo Stars out of the competition.
It’s Remo Stars’ their third consecutive season on the continent, but they are yet to play in the group stages.
