In France, Moses Simon and Akor Adams were both on target for Nantes and Montpellier respectively in Nantes 3-1 away win over Montpellier in Saturday’s Ligue 1 game. Simon put Nantes back in front from the penalty spot in added minutes of the first half, after his compatriot, Adams had levelled for Montpellier in the 30th minute. Simon has now scored two goals in three league appearances this season.
Gabriel Osho was in action for Auxerre who lost 3-1 away to Le Havre in the Ligue 1 on Sunday. The Nigerian defender was in the starting line-up before he was replaced by Sinaly Diomande in the 66th minute.
In the Premier League, Wilfred Ndidi provided an assist but it was not enough as Leicester lost 2-1 at home to Aston Villa in Saturday’s Premier League fixture. Leicester pulled a goal back after Ndidi set up Facundo Buonanotte in the 73th minute. The Super Eagles midfielder opened his goal account for the new season after grabbing one of the goals in Leicester’s 4-0 win against Tranmere Rovers in the Carabao Cup in mid week.
At the City Stadium, the duo of Ola Aina and Taiwo Awoniyi were in action for Nottingham Forest who played a 1-1 draw with Wolves on Saturday. Aina was in action for 90 minutes while Awoniyi was introduced in the 90th minute.
In another venue, Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey were also in action for Fulham in their 1-1 draw away at Ipswich Town. Iwobi started the game, but was replaced with three minutes left to play, while Bassey was in action for the entire duration of the game.
Joe Aribo was on the losing side as Southampton lost 3-1 away to Brentford at the Brentford Community Stadium on Saturday. Aribo played for 82 minutes before he was replaced by Adam Lallana.
In the Championship, Josh Maja bagged the assist for West Brom in their 1-0 home win against Swansea in Saturday’s Championship game. Maja set up Jayson Molumby to score the only goal of the game in added minutes of the first half. The 25-year-old has now recorded four goals with one assist in four league games this season.
Also in action for the Baggies was Maja’s Nigerian teammate Semi Ajayi who saw action for 90 minutes.
In Italy, Super Eagles duo of Samuel Chukwueze and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru were in action as AC Milan held Lazio to a 2-2 draw in Saturday’s SerieA game. Chukwueze, who was making his third appearance in the league for Milan this ongoing season, is yet to score, and was substituted in the 70th minute for Rafael Leão after an impressive display.
His Nigerian compatriot Dele-Bashiru came on as a substitute for Lazio in the 81st minute, making his second league appearance this season.
In Spain, Chidera Ejuke was in action for full 90 minutes for Sevilla in their 2-0 defeat at home to Girona on Sunday. The Nigerian forward unfortunately had a goal disallowed, as he put on another impressive display.
In Scotland, Cyriel Dessers and Leon Balogun both featured for Rangers in their 3-0 Old Firm derby defeat against Celtic on Sunday. Dessers was in action for full 90 minutes, while Balogun was introduced 10 minutes from time.
