Nigerian champions Enugu Rangers have been eliminated from the CAF Champions League after losing 3-1 away to Sagrada Esperança of Angola on Sunday, leaving Nigeria without a representative in the competition.
Rangers won the first leg of the second-round qualifier 1-0 in Nigeria, but were dumped out of the competition 3-2 on aggregate.
The Flying Antelopes trailed 2-0 during the first half of the second leg in Luanda against the Angolan side, playing 850 kilometres from their Dundo base, as their stadium fail to meet CAF standards.
Anayor Ogbonna then scored before half-time for Rangers, bringing the clubs level on aggregate at 2-2 and edging Enugu ahead on away goals.
But Jaime Pimpão scored the only goal of the decisive goal in the 67th minute to put Sagrada two goals ahead again in the second leg, and they maintained that advantage to progress to the group stage.
Rangers have competed in the Champions League four times, but have never made it to the money-spinning group stage.
The other Nigerian qualifiers for the CAF Champions League this season, Remo Stars, lost to Moroccan side FAR Rabat in the first round last month.
