Remo Stars reclaimed top spot in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) following a 2-0 win away at Kano Pillars in the match-day three of the season on Sunday. Sodiq Ismail opened scoring for Remo Stars in the 26th minute, while Frank Mawuena added the second in the 60th minute.
Remo Stars top the log with nine maximum points from three games. They’ve won all their three matches this season without conceding a single goal.
At the New Jos Stadium, Niger Tornadoes recorded an away win after defeating their hosts Plateau United 2-1. Tornadoes led 2-0 through goals from Ifeanyi Okechukwu and Kufre Ebong, while Pam Samuel scored a consolation goal for the home team in added minutes of the game.
Rivers United recorded a 1-0 away win at Lobi Stars on Saturday. Kabiru Abdullahi scored the winning goal for Finidi George’s side 11 minutes from time. Abdullahi’s has now scored three goals in three NPFL matches this season.
In another match-day three encounter at the Lafia City Stadium, El-kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri recorded a 4-3 away win at Nasarawa United on Saturday. Anas Yussuf scored a hart-tick for Nasarawa, while Salihu Nasiru got a brace for El-kanemi.
At the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Heartland of Owerri were held to a goalless draw at home by Katsina United on Sunday. Coach Emmanuel Amuneke’s Heartland remain without a win after three games this season.
At the Otunba Dipo Dina Stadium Ijebu Ode, Sunshine Stars also played out a goalless draw with Abia Warriors on Sunday.
In Ilorin, the game between Kwara United and new boys, Ikorodu City also ended 0-0.
