In Turkey, Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen opened his goals account for Galatasaray with a brace which, unfortunately, was not enough as they surrendered a 3-0 lead to draw 3-3 with Kasimpasa on Saturday. Osimhen opened the scoring in the 20th minute, and doubled the lead in the 28th to put Galatasaray 2-0 ahead.
However, Osimhen did not return for the second half as he was substituted due to injury. Also in action in the game was his compatriot, Kenneth Omeruo who came on in the 30th minute for Kasimpasa.
In the Premier League, it was a mixed day at the office for Wilfred Ndidi, as he provided an assist, and also scored an own goal in Leicester City’s 4-2 loss to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday. Arsenal went 3–2 up in the 94th minute, as Trossard’s strike, off a Bukayo Saka corner hit Ndidi and rolled into the net. But the Super Eagles midfielder now has four assists in six appearances this season.
In another Premier League game Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey were in action, as they helped Fulham beat Nottingham Forest 1-0 away on Saturday. Also in action were the duo of Ola Aina and Taiwo Awoniyi for Nottingham Forest. Iwobi and Bassey played the full 90 minutes for Fulham, while Awoniyi was replaced before the start of the second half.
In the Championship, Josh Maja scored his seventh goal of the season for West Brom as they fell to a 3-2 defeat against Sheffield Wednesday at the Hiisbrough on Saturday. Maja scored for the Baggies in the 65th minute, after Sheffield Wednesday went two goals up. His compatriot Semi Ajayi was also in action for West Brom, he played for 83 minutes in the encounter.
At the Vicarage Road, Tom Dele-Bashiru scored the winning goal for Watford as they defeated Sunderland 2-1 in their Sky Bet Championship clash on Saturday. The Nigerian midfielder scored from the penalty spot six minutes from time to earn the Hornets all the three points.
In Spain, Nigerian forward Chrisantus Uche was in action for Getafe in their 2-0 win over Alaves in Saturday’s La Liga game. Uche made his 8th appearance in the league this season, and has netted one goal.
Chidera Ejuke and Kelechi Iheanacho featured for Sevilla in their 1-1 draw at away at Athletic Bilbao on Sunday. Ejuke was in action for 90 minutes, while Iheanacho was replaced in the 59th minute.
In Italy, Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye was in action for Udinese who lost 3-2 to Serie A champions Inter Milan in Saturday’s fixture. Okoye returned to the goal after he was rested during midweek’s Coppa Italia win against Salernitana.
Ademola Lookman was in action for full 90 minutes for Atalanta in their hard-earned 1-1 draw away at Bologna on Saturday. Lookman has recorded two goals with one assist in three league matches this season.
In Czech Republic, Nigerian striker Victor Olatunji was on target for Sparta Prague who lost 3-2 at home to Sigma Olomouc in their league game on Friday night. It was Olatunji’s third goal in eight league appearances for Sparta Prague and also his sixth goal in all competitions this season.
In Germany, the duo of Victor Boniface and Nathan Tella were in action for Bayer Leverkusen in their 1-1 draw with Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena in Saturday’s Bundesliga game. Boniface was in the starting line-up before he was replaced by his compatriot, Tella in the 78th minute.
Super Eagles defender Kevin Akpoguma was in action as Hoffenheim lost 3-4 to Werder Bremen in Sunday’s Bundesliga game. The Nigerian international who was making his sixth appearances for the club this ongoing season and had a positive impact.
In France, Moses Simon put in a good effort for FC Nantes, as they were held to a 2-2 draw at home by Saint-Etienne on Sunday. The Super Eagles winger was in action for the entire duration of the game.
In Scotland, Nigerian striker Cyriel Dessers was in action for Rangers who beat Hibernian 1-0 in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday. Dessers came on as a second half substitute in the 56th minute, while his Nigerian teammate Leon Balogun was an unused substitute.
In Saudi Arabia, Super Eagles defender William Troost-Ekong scored his first goal for Al-Khaloood in their 4-2 home defeat to Al-Hilal over the weekend. Troost-Ekong converted from the spot three minutes from time to reduce the deficit for his team.
In Women’s football, Super Falcons star Rasheedat Ajibade scored one and forces two own goals in another impressive performance for Atletico de Madrid Femenino in their 4-0 win over Madrid CFF on Friday night. The 24-year old has now scored three goals with two assists in three league games this season.
Super Falcons player Toni Payne featured off the bench for Everton Ladies, in their 1-0 league defeat at home against Manchester United in the Women’s Super League on Sunday. The forward came in as a substitute in the 64th minute.
Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie was impressive, as she kept a clean sheet as Paris FC trashed Le Havre Ladies 8-0 in the French Women’s League on Sunday.
In another venue, Ifeoma Onumonu made her Montpellier debut in their 1-0 home league victory over Reims on Saturday. The Nigerian forward was in action for 83 minutes.
