Remo Stars continue their winning run in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) after a 2-1 victory over champions Enugu Rangers on Sunday. Alex Oyowah put Remo in front in the 51st minute, but Kenechukwu Agu equalised for Rangers five minutes after the break. Raymond Tochukwu however scored the winner in the 61st minute. The Daniel Ogunmodede’s team remain top of the log with 12 maximum points, after winning all their four games this season.
At the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan, Shooting Stars defeated Heartland of Owerri 1-0 on Sunday. Samuel Ayanrinde scored the winner for the Oluyole Warriors in the 21st minute.
Nasarawa United recorded their first win of the season after beating new boys, Ikorodu City 2-1 at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos on Saturday. Anas Yusuf put the visitors in front one minute before the break, but Ikorodu City equalised through Chilaka Thankgod three minutes after the break. However, Kabiru Balogun scored the winning goal for Nasarawa United in the 65th minute.
At the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, Sunshine Stars of Akure also recorded a 2-1 away win against Akwa United. Sunshine Stars went 2-0 up before halftime with goals from Chinedu Nwosu, and Seth Mayi. However, Wisdom Ndon scored a 83rd minute consolation goal for Akwa United.
In Maiduguri, El-kanemi Warriors held Plateau United to a 2-2 draw on Sunday. Victor Dawa put Plateau United in front after 11 minutes, and Gafar Saka doubled the lead 10 minutes after halftime. But the home team fought back with goals from Ibrahim Mustapha and Samaila Bello to draw the game.
At the Umuahia Township Stadium on Sunday, Abia Warriors claimed a 2-0 victory over Kano Pillars. Sunday Megwo and Emmanuel Ogbuagbu were on target for the home team.
Rivers United extended their unbeaten streak following a 2-0 win over Enyimba in Port Harcourt on Sunday. Ubong Friday and Seiyefa Jackson scored both goals for the People’s Elephant, as coach Finidi George defeated his former team.
At the Bako Kontagaro Stadium, Minna, Niger Tornadoes were held to a 1-1 draw by Bendel Insurance. Jonas Emmanuel gave Tornadoes the lead five minutes after the break, while Vincent Okeke equalised for Insurance in the 60th minute. Tornadoes remain unbeaten this season with two wins and two draws.
