Kano Pillars have made headlines with the high-profile signing of two Super Eagles stars, Ahmed Musa and Shehu Abdullahi, on free transfers. The duo is set to bolster Sai Masu Gida’s squad ahead of their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) clash against Sunshine Stars on Sunday, a Matchday 6 fixture that will take place at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium.

“We can confirm that an agreement in principle has been reached with Super Eagles players, captain, Ahmed Musa MON, and Shehu Abdullahi to join up with us for the 2024/25 football season. Both players have been included in the squad for our match against Sunshine Stars on Sunday.”
For Ahmed Musa, this marks his third stint with the club, having previously played for Pillars in the 2009/10 season and again in 2021. Known for his blistering pace and clinical finishing, Musa first made a name for himself with the team by finishing the 2009 season as the league’s top scorer with 18 goals, a performance that earned him a move to Dutch side VVV Venlo in the Eredivisie.
Shehu Abdullahi, on the other hand, is reuniting with Kano Pillars for the second time, having been part of the squad back in 2012. The defensive midfielder has been without a club since leaving Bulgarian side Levski Sofia in January 2023. With his experience and versatility, Abdullahi will be a valuable addition to Pillars’ midfield as they aim for a strong campaign this season.
Musa, who recently parted ways with Turkish club Sivasspor in February, and Abdullahi, who has been a free agent for several months, both bring a wealth of international and domestic experience that is expected to elevate the team’s performances in the NPFL.
