Sunshine Stars have announced the appointment of Abubakar Bala as their new technical adviser for the remainder of the season. Bala replaces Bobola Akinbola, who had been leading the team in an acting capacity.
The Akure-based club has been without a permanent head coach since Kennedy Boboye stepped down from the role on November 10, 2024. Bala, who most recently managed Nigeria National League side Doma United, brings a wealth of experience to the team. His managerial career includes stints with NPFL sides Katsina United, Niger Tornadoes, and Kwara United.
Sunshine Stars currently face a tough challenge in the league, sitting 19th on the NPFL table with just 18 points from 17 matches. Bala’s immediate task will be to turn the team’s fortunes around as they look to climb out of the relegation zone.
