Rivers United, who had been leading the pack, slipped to second place after a 1-1 draw with Nasarawa United in Lafia. Kabiru Abdullahi’s 50th-minute penalty salvaged a point for Rivers after Nasarawa United took an early lead in the 14th minute through Joshua John.
Shooting Stars Stun Rangers in Enugu
One of the weekend’s standout results came in Enugu, where Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan shocked Rangers International with a 1-0 victory. Ikouwem Udo’s 28th-minute strike proved decisive, catapulting 3SC into third place with 30 points from 18 games. Rangers, now fourth, trail closely with 28 points.

Ahmed Musa scored the winning goal as Kano Pillars defeated Niger Tornadoes 2-1 at the Sani Abacha Stadium on Saturday. Rashid Alhassan gave Kano Pillars the lead on the half hour mark, while Mohammed Goyi equalised for the visitors on the hour mark. Musa netted the winning goal deep into stoppage time.
