It was another thrilling weekend in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), with plenty of goals, drama, and standout performances across the country. At the Lafia Township Stadium, leaders Nasarawa United continued their impressive start to the season, edging Enugu Rangers 2–1 on Sunday to stretch their unbeaten run to seven games.
Nasarawa United Stay on Top
Rangers struck first through Wisdom Ebirim in the 19th minute, but last season’s top scorer Anas Yusuf equalized for the hosts from the penalty spot in the 32nd minute. The decisive moment came two minutes past the hour mark when John Joshua netted the winner to send the Lafia crowd into celebration. With the victory, Nasarawa United remain top of the NPFL standings with 19 points from eight matches, having now won their last five games in a row.
Abia Warriors Close the Gap
In Umuahia, Abia Warriors climbed to second on the table after a comfortable 2–0 victory over El-Kanemi Warriors. Casmir Azubuike was the star of the show, scoring a quick-fire brace in the 23rd and 28th minutes to give Imama Amapakabo’s men a deserved win. The result leaves them four points behind Nasarawa United.
Katsina United Cruise Past Remo Stars
At the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, Katsina United continued their solid form with a 3–1 win against Remo Stars. Elijah Akanji opened the scoring in the 31st minute, before Ibrahim Abubakar drew Remo level nine minutes later. However, second-half strikes from Uche Collins and Abdulrahman Garba sealed all three points for the hosts.
Kun Khalifat Stun Enyimba
Elsewhere, Kun Khalifat secured their second win of the season by defeating Enyimba 1–0 in a tense Oriental Derby. Ebuka Nwokorie scored the only goal of the match in the 69th minute, condemning the People’s Elephant to their first defeat of the campaign.
Peace Boys Triumph in Jos
In Jos, Plateau United continued their fine home form with a 2–0 win over Barau FC. Goals from Amietimi Enewarikpemi and Vincent Temitope ensured a comfortable victory for the Peace Boys.
Ikorodu City Edge Bendel Insurance
At the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos, Ikorodu City earned a narrow 1–0 win over Bendel Insurance. Folarin Temitope’s 10th-minute strike proved decisive, handing the Oga Boys their second victory of the season.
