Erling Haaland continued his incredible scoring run by netting both goals in Manchester City’s 2-0 win over Everton at the Etihad Stadium.
Haaland scored a hat-trick for Norway during the recent international break and his second-half double against the Toffees at Etihad Stadium took his tally to 23 goals in only 13 games for club and country this season.
The 25-year-old had been kept quiet in the first half but came alive with his first opportunity of the contest, powerfully heading in from Nico O’Reilly’s cross, before scoring again just five minutes later with a vicious low drive from Savinho’s cutback that fizzed past Pickford.
Halland’s brace knocked the stuffing out of the visitors, who suffered a first Premier League away defeat by a multi-goal margin since December, though their defeat could’ve been far heavier if not for a series of late saves from Pickford to deny Haaland another hat-trick.
The Toffees are winless at the Etihad since 2010, while City’s unbeaten head-to-head run reached 18 matches with a victory that, at least temporarily, lifts them to the top of the table.
