It was another impressive weekend for Nigerian footballers plying their trade across Europe, with goals, assists, and standout performances highlighting their growing influence in top leagues.
Sevilla Duo Deliver in Spain
In Spain, Super Eagles pair Adams Akor and Chidera Ejuke were both on the scoresheet as Sevilla cruised to a dominant 4–0 victory over Real Oviedo in LaLiga on Sunday. Akor wasted no time making his presence felt, opening the scoring in just the fourth minute and later providing an assist in a commanding display. Ejuke capped off the rout with Sevilla’s fourth goal in the 89th minute, just 12 minutes after coming off the bench. It marked Ejuke’s first league goal of the season, while Akor now boasts three goals and two assists so far in the campaign.
Orban the Hero in Italy
In Serie A, Gift Orban delivered a match-winning performance for Hellas Verona, scoring both goals in their 2–1 away victory over Fiorentina. The Nigerian forward broke the deadlock in the 42nd minute before Fiorentina drew level. Deep into stoppage time, Orban struck again in the 93rd minute to seal the win. He now has four goals and one assist in 11 league appearances this season.
Elsewhere in Italy, Maduka Okoye was between the sticks for Udinese as they edged Napoli 1–0 at home. The match marked Okoye’s eighth league appearance of the season, despite his omission from the Super Eagles’ final 28-man squad for AFCON 2025.

At the Emirates Stadium, Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare netted his first Premier League goal for Wolverhampton Wanderers, scoring a dramatic 90th-minute header in their 2–1 loss to Arsenal. The goal briefly brought Wolves level after Arsenal had gone ahead through a freak own goal.
Osimhen, Dessers, and Others on Target
In Turkey, Victor Osimhen continued his fine form for Galatasaray, scoring in their emphatic 4–1 away win over Antalyaspor. His 56th-minute strike was Galatasaray’s third of the night and took his league tally to six goals. Overall, Osimhen has recorded 12 goals in 16 appearances across all competitions this season.
In Greece, Cyriel Dessers opened the scoring and later won a penalty as Panathinaikos claimed a home victory over Volos in the Greek Super League. The 31-year-old now has three goals in all competitions this season.
Meanwhile in France, Chidozie Awaziem featured for the entire 90 minutes as Nantes suffered a 4–1 defeat to Angers in Ligue 1. It was Awaziem’s 16th league appearance of the season, during which he has contributed one assist.
