After several days of uncertainty, the planned four-nation international friendly tournament featuring the Super Eagles of Nigeria, Jordan, Iran, and Costa Rica has officially been moved from Jordan to Turkey.
The tournament was initially scheduled to take place in Amman, the capital of Jordan. However, rising tensions in the Middle East—stemming from the ongoing conflict involving Iran, the United States, and Israel—forced organisers to reconsider the venue due to concerns over safety and travel restrictions.
In an official statement, the Jordan Football Association confirmed that the tournament will still go ahead as planned but will now be staged in the Turkish city of Antalya.
According to the statement, the decision was made because of the current regional situation and the limited movement of people across parts of the Middle East. Despite earlier uncertainty surrounding their participation, Iran will also take part in the competition.
“The Jordanian Football Association has decided to move the matches of the four-team international friendly tournament, scheduled for March 2026, to be held in the Turkish city of Antalya, due to the current situation in the region and the limited movement of people,” the association said via its official website.
The federation also noted that the tournament will serve as part of the participating teams’ preparations for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup.
According to the republished tournament schedule, the Jordan national football team will open its campaign against the Costa Rica national football team on Friday, March 27. On the same day, the Iran national football team will face the Nigeria national football team.
Jordan will then play its second match against Nigeria on Tuesday evening, March 31, while Iran will take on Costa Rica later that same day.
