Nigerian champions Enyimba Football Club have been knocked out of the inaugural African Football League following a 3-0 defeat to Wydad Athletic Club of Morocco in the second leg on Thursday night.
The People’s Elephant were bundled out of the competition 4-0 on aggregate after losing the first leg 1-0 at home over the weekend.
Enyimba were hoping to cancel out the 1-0 deficit from the first leg but found their hosts too strong on the night in Casablanca.
Ayoub El Amloud gave Wydad the lead just four minutes into the game after he was set up by Yahya Jabrane.
The home team doubled their advantage 38th minute through Jamal Harkass, while Yahya Attiyat-Allah netted the third goal two minutes before halftime.
The Moroccan club will now lock horns with Esperance of Tunisia in the semi-final of the African Football League.
Esperance beat TP Mazembe of DR Congo 3-1 on aggregate to progress to the semifinal.
