Champions Enyimba recorded a 1-0 win over Doma United in Aba on Sunday, with Chijioke Mbaoma netting the winner two minutes from time. The People’s Elephant move to second on the log, while Doma United remain without a win in their last seven games.
At the Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium in Enugu, Kwara United ended Rangers’ five games winning streak after holding them to a goalless on Sunday. The Flying Antelopes remain unbeaten in their last six games, while Kwara United are without a win in their last five games.
Lobi Stars remain on the top of the log after they played out a 1-1 draw away at Abia Warriors on Sunday. Fabian Omaka put Abia Warriors ahead from the spot in the 70th minute, but the visitors levelled through John Victor in added minutes of stoppage time.
Sunshine Stars of Akure continued their impressive run under new coach Kennedy Boboye courtesy of a 3-1 victory against Plateau United on Saturday. Ibrahim Yusuf opened the scoring for the home team in the 28th minute, and Tunde Sodiq doubled the lead nine minutes before the break. Albert Hilary reduced the deficit for Plateau United on 58 minutes. Sodiq however made the points save with his second goal of the game two minutes from time.
At the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, Rivers United rallied to hold Kano Pillars to a 1-1 draw. Abba Adam put Pillars in front in the 23rd minute, while Sunday Williams equalised for the Pride of Rivers in the 65th minute.
At the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa, Ikechukwu Nwani scored the decisive goal as Niger Tonardoes recorded a 1-0 away win against Bayelsa United. It’s the first away win for Tonardoes this season.
In another game played on Saturday, Katsina United and Heartland battled to a 1-1 draw at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium. Bottom placed Heartland now remain without a win in their last eight games.
In a South West derby contest at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan on Sunday, Sporting Lagos defeated Remo Stars 4-1. Junior Lokosa opened the scoring for Sporting Lagos from the penalty spot in the 4th minute, and Pascal Onyekachi doubled the advantage in the 27th minute. Remo Stars fought back with Sodiq Ismail reducing the deficit six minutes before the break, but Philip Kehinde and Isaac Annor scored twice after the break to put the game beyond the visitors.
