In Scotland, Nigerian striker, Cyriel Dessers was on target for Glasgow Rangers as he scored for the Gers who returned to the summit of the Scottish Premiership following a 3-1 win over Hibernian at Ibrox on Saturday.
Dessers restored Rangers’ lead in added minutes of the first half after Myziane Maolida had equaliser for the visitors five minutes earlier. The strike took the 29-year-old’s tally 17 goals in 44 games in all competitions this season.
In the German Bundesliga, Nathan Tella came off the bench to provide an assist for a 91st-minute Patrik Schick winner for Bayer Leverkusen in their dramatic 2-1 win over Hoffenheim on Saturday. The 24-year-old has registered six goals with three assists in all competitions this season.
In the Premier League, the trio Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey and Ola Aina failed to record wins with their teams in England on Saturday. At the City Ground, Aina played for 84 minutes in Nottingham Forest’s 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Iwobi’s 245th EPL game ended in a dramatic draw as Fulham were held to 3-3 by Sheffield United on Saturday. Iwobi played for 74 minutes before he was replaced by Tom Cairney. Bassey on his part played for the entire duration of the game, and was cautioned in additional time of the encounter.
In the Championship, the duo of Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho played for Leicester City in their 1-0 defeat away at Bristol City on Friday. Ndidi played for the entire duration of the game, while Iheanacho replaced Jamie Vardy in the 74th minute. The Foxes have now surrendered their lead at the top of the Championship log following the defeat.

In Women’s football, Super Falcons star, Jennifer Echegini scored a hat-trick for Juventus Women’s team in their 4-0 thumping of Fiorentina on Saturday. The midfielder scored once in the first half and then added two more after the break. She has now scored eight goals in eight league appearances for the Bianconeri this season.
Rasheedat Ajibade was also on target for Atletico de Madrid Femenino in their 1-0 win over Valencia on Saturday. The Super Eagles forward scored the only goal of the game in added minutes of the first half to register her 5th league goal of the season.
Toni Payne also scored a beautiful goal for Sevilla Women in their 4-2 home victory over Real Sociedad on Saturday. The Nigerian forward scored Sevilla’s fourth goal in the 85th minute to take her tally at six goals in the league this season.
The Super Falcons players are now expected to link up with their teammates ahead of the 2024 Olympic Games qualifier against the Banyana Banyana of South Africa.
