Nigeria Super Eagles have been drawn alongside Benin Republic, Libya and Rwanda in Group D of the qualifiers for 2025 AFCON in Morocco. The draw ceremony took place in Johannesburg, South Africa on Thursday.
The Squirrels of Benin Republic, who are managed by former Nigeria head coach, Gernot Rohr defeated the Super Eagles 2-1 in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in June.
The Bees of Rwanda are also in the same World Cup qualifying group with Nigeria, and are scheduled to host the Super Eagles in March 2025.
The AFCON qualifiers will kick-off in September and run through November, 2025. The first two teams from the 12 groups will make it to the Nations Cup in Morocco.
The 2025 AFCON will be played from December 21, 2025 to January 18, 2026 following CAF’s decision to adjust the schedule of the tournament for the congested FIFA calendar.
It will be the first time in Nations Cup history that the tournament will kick off in December and run over the Christmas and New Year periods.
