Remo Stars recorded a 1-0 victory over Sunshine Stars of Akure in the South West derby in Ikenne in match-day two of the NPFL on Saturday. Shuaib Ibrahim scored on his debut for the Sky Blue Stars in the 7th minute.
At the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt, Rivers United defeated Heartland 3-1 on Saturday. Taofeek Otaniyi gave Finidi George’s side the lead in the 3rd minute, Heartland however fought back with Christian Molokwu netting the equaliser in first half added time. Kabir Abdullahi put Rivers United back in front in the 68th minute, and Abdullahi scored his second goal of the game in stoppage time as the game ended 3-1.
Shooting Stars of Ibadan came from behind to earn a share of the spoils against Plateau United at the Lekan Salami Stadium on Sunday. Victor Dawa gave the visitors the lead in the 39th minute, but 3SC equalised through Uche Onwuasanya late in the first half, as the game ended 1-1.
At the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, Katsina United beat Bendel Insurance 2-1 on Sunday. James Oronsaye opened the scoring for Insurance in the 17th minutes, the lead lasted just six minutes before Bello Lukman equalised for the home team. Azzez Falolu however scored the winner in added minutes of the game.
The encounter between Kano Pillars and Bayelsa United also ended 1-1. Auwalu Ali gave Kano Pillars the lead four minutes before the break, while Rabiu Abdullahi equalised for Bayelsa United in the 59th minute.
In Minna, Niger Tornadoes battled to a goalless raw against Nasarawa United.
Former champions Akwa United and Abia Warriors battled to a 1-1 draw at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo. Adejoh Ojonugwa put Abia Warriors in front after nine minutes into the game, but Edidiong Enobong salvaged a point for Akwa United deep into stoppage time.
