After more than two decades, the Unity Cup is making a powerful comeback. Set to take place in May 2025, the iconic Afro-Caribbean international football tournament will return with a bang at Brentford’s Gtech Community Stadium.
Originally last held in 2004, the Unity Cup celebrates the rich footballing heritage of the African and Caribbean communities. This year’s edition will feature four national teams—Ghana, Jamaica, Nigeria, and Trinidad and Tobago—vying for the title in a thrilling series of matches.
The tournament kicks off on Tuesday, 27 May, with a highly anticipated clash between Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica. Fans will see former Manchester United star Dwight Yorke on the sidelines, coaching the Trinidad and Tobago side he once proudly represented 72 times.
The action continues on Wednesday, 28 May, as two-time Unity Cup champions Nigeria take on Ghana in a clash that promises intensity and flair. Then, on Saturday, 31 May, all four teams return to the pitch for a double-header finale: a third-place playoff followed by the grand final to crown the 2025 Unity Cup champions.
Beyond the football, the Unity Cup is a celebration of culture, identity, and the global influence of Afro-Caribbean communities in the sport. It reflects not only a growing commercial interest in African and Caribbean football but also the rising presence and influence of Black fans within English football culture.
Tickets go on sale Tuesday, 15 April at 5pm BST.
