History was made in Ikenne on Sunday as Remo Stars clinched the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League title for the first time, sealing the triumph with a thrilling 1-0 victory over Niger Tornadoes on match-day 35.
It was a tense and fiercely contested encounter, but second-half substitute Olamilekan Adedayo emerged as the hero, scoring the decisive goal just six minutes from the end. His late strike sent the home crowd into a frenzy and confirmed Remo Stars’ status as the new kings of Nigerian football.
This crucial win marked Remo Stars’ 21st of the season, pushing them to an impressive 68 points. With a commanding 10-point lead over second-placed Rivers United and only three games remaining, Daniel Ogunmodede’s side has made it mathematically impossible for any rival to catch them.
As newly crowned champions, Remo Stars have also earned the honor of representing Nigeria in next season’s CAF Champions League, bringing continental football back to Ikenne.
