It was another action-packed weekend for Nigerian players abroad, with goals, assists, and standout performances lighting up Europe’s top leagues.
In England, Alex Iwobi stole the headlines at Craven Cottage as Fulham came from behind to beat Brentford 3-1 in the Premier League. The Super Eagles midfielder bagged his first goal of the season and added an assist before being subbed off in the 80th minute. His compatriot Calvin Bassey also featured for the full 90, while Brentford’s Frank Onyeka remained an unused substitute.
Elsewhere, Tolu Arokodare played the full match for Wolves, but his side slumped to a 3-1 home defeat against Leeds, continuing their nightmare start to the season with five losses from five.
In France, Terem Moffi was on target again for OGC Nice, scoring his second Ligue 1 goal of the season in their 4-1 defeat away to Brest. Moffi’s strike briefly gave his team hope after a disastrous start, but it wasn’t enough to spark a comeback.
Chidozie Awaziem also had a solid outing, playing the entire match as Nantes battled to a 2-2 draw with Rennes.
In Italy, Gift Orban delivered a Man of the Match performance for Hellas Verona, converting a first-half penalty to secure a 1-1 draw with Juventus.
Ademola Lookman made his long-awaited return for Atalanta, coming off the bench in the final minutes of their 3-0 win over Torino after a summer transfer saga.
Meanwhile, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru’s evening ended early as he limped off injured in Lazio’s 1-0 derby loss to Roma.
In Scotland, Kelechi Iheanacho continued his fine form for Celtic, setting up Sebastian Tounekti’s goal in a 4-0 League Cup demolition of Partick Thistle. Iheanacho had also scored a decisive penalty in midweek league action.
In Spain, Akor Adams featured off the bench for Sevilla in their 2-1 victory over Alaves, making his third La Liga appearance of the season.
In Belgium, Raphael Onyedika turned in another commanding midfield performance as Club Brugge claimed a 2-0 win over STVV. He played the full match and remains a key figure in their strong start.
In Turkey, Paul Onuachu was once again on the scoresheet for Trabzonspor, netting his third of the season to snatch a 1-1 draw against Gaziantep.
Ibrahim Olawoyin also found the back of the net, scoring his first of the campaign in Rizespor’s 1-1 stalemate with Kocaelispor.
In Germany, Victor Boniface was in action for Werder Bremen in their 3-0 home defeat to Freiburg on Saturday. Boniface came on as a second half substitute in the 60th minute.

Chiamaka Nnadozie was superb between the sticks for Brighton, pulling off five big saves in their 4-1 win over West Ham in the Women’s Super League.
In France, Rasheedat Ajibade marked her first home game of the season for PSG with an assist in their 5-2 victory over Nantes. Fellow Super Falcon Jennifer Echegini also got minutes in the win.
