Arsenal’s Champions League campaign rolled on in style as the Gunners swept aside Bayern Munich with a confident 3–1 victory — a result that also saw Noni Madueke net his first goal for the club.
The tone was set early. Arsenal dominated from kickoff, and their pressure paid off in the 22nd minute when Jurrien Timber rose to meet Bukayo Saka’s corner. It marked Arsenal’s 10th goal from a corner this season — more than any other team across Europe’s top five leagues — underscoring just how lethal they’ve become from set pieces.
Bayern responded well after falling behind. A trademark diagonal ball from Joshua Kimmich found Serge Gnabry, who squared the ball for 17-year-old Lennart Karl to finish from close range. It was the first time Arsenal had conceded in the competition this season, but their composure never wavered.
After the break, England winger Madueke restored Arsenal’s lead, guiding in a fierce low cross from substitute Riccardo Calafiori. And the Gunners weren’t done. Fresh off his heroics in the north London derby, Eberechi Eze produced a moment of class, lifting a perfectly weighted ball over the Bayern defence. Gabriel Martinelli beat Manuel Neuer to it, dancing around the stranded keeper to seal Bayern’s first defeat of the season.
This week looked daunting for Mikel Arteta’s side — Tottenham, Bayern Munich, and Chelsea in quick succession — but Arsenal have made the first two hurdles look almost effortless. Four goals against Spurs, three against Bayern, and a squad growing stronger as key players return from injury: it’s the form of a team chasing its first major trophy since 2020.
With just one loss all season and top spots in both the Premier League and Champions League, Arsenal look like a side that’s only getting harder to stop.
