Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade has voiced her disappointment following CAF’s decision to postpone the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
The Confederation of African Football, CAF, announced that the tournament, originally scheduled to kick off in Morocco on March 17, will now take place from July 25 to August 16, 2026, citing unforeseen circumstances.
Most of the 16 qualified teams had already begun preparations, including friendly matches during the recent international window. Nigeria’s Super Falcons, for instance, played two friendlies against Cameroon’s Indomitable Lionesses.
Reacting on social media, Ajibade shared her frustration, posting: “African women’s football deserves better” alongside a disappointed emoji.
CAF is yet to confirm the host nation for the rescheduled WAFCON 2026 tournament.
