In Germany: Nigerian striker Victor Boniface was on target as Bayer Leverkusen maintained their unbeaten streak in the Bundesliga this season with a 3-0 home win against Cologne at the BayArena on Sunday. Boniface scored Bayer Leverkusen third goal of the game in the 67th minute of the game to register his 7th goal in seven league appearances for Xabi Alonso’s side this season.
The 22-year-old is in third position on the top scorer’s chart. Only Stuttgart forward Serhou Guirassy and Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane have scored more goals than the Nigeria international in the Bundesliga this season.
In Italy: Victor Osimhen was again on the score sheet for Napoli in the 3-1 home defeat to Fiorentina in the Serie A on Sunday. Josip Brekalo opened the scoring in the 7th minute before Osimhen level the score from the penalty spot five minutes into first half added time. Giacomo Bonaventura put Fiorentina 2-1 up in the 63rd minute, while Nicolas Gonzalez added the third goal for the visitors in the 93rd minute. Osimhen has now scored in all his last three league games, and has six goals in eight games in the league this season.
Super Eagles forward, Ademola Lookman was in action for Atalanta in their 3-2 defeat to Lazio in Sunday’s Serie A game. Lookman came on as a substitute for Gianluca Scamacca in the 60th minute. The Nigerian international has made eight appearance and netted two goals in the league this season.
Super Eagles winger, Samuel Chukwueze was also in action for AC Milan in their 1-0 win over Genoa on Saturday. The Nigerian international was making his sixth appearance and yet to score. He was substituted in the 46th minute for Christian Pulisic.
In the Premier League: Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka was brought on in the 70th minute for Bradford in their 2-1 defeat to Manchester United at the Old Trafford stadium on Saturday. Two late goals from Scot McTominay in the 93rd and 97th minutes, saw United claim all the three points.
At Craven Cottage, Fulham defeated Sheffield United 3-1 with Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey in action for Fulham. Bassey came on in the 71st minute while Iwobi was replaced on 79th minute of the encounter.
Super Eagles duo of Ola Aina and Taiwo Awoniyi were not in action as Nottingham Forest held Crystal Palace to a goalless draw in Saturday’s Premier League game. Both players missed the game due to different injuries. Awoniyi will be out of action for up to a month due to a groin injury.
Awoniyi and Aina will both miss Super Eagles double header international friendly games against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique in Portugal.
In the Championship: Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho was voted Leicester City’s Man of the Match after helping them secure a 2-0 home win against Stoke City at the King Power stadium on Saturday.
Iheanacho continued his brilliant scoring form as he netted again in the game after opening the scoring in the 24th minute. It was his third goal in his last three league games and also his fourth for the season.
His compatriot, Wilfred Ndidi also got the assist for the Foxes’ second goal scored by Jamie Vardy. Ndidi now has three assists in the league and four in all competitions for Leicester this season.
In France: Super Eagles striker Terem Moffi was in action as Nice pipped Metz 1-0 in Saturday’s Ligue 1 game. The Nigerian international who was making his seventh appearance, has scored three goals in the league this ongoing season. He was however, substituted in the 67th minute for Guessand after an impressive performance.
In Switzerland: Samuel Kalu provided an assist for Lausanne-Sport in their 3-1 home win over Luzern on Sunday. The 26-year-old was however replaced in the 71st minute.
In Saudi Arabia: Henry Onyekuru was on target as Al Feiha held Odion Ighalo’s Al Wehda to a 1-1 draw in their Saudi Arabia Professional Football League clash at the the King Abdulaziz Sports City Stadium.
Onyekuru opened scoring for Al Feiha seven minutes before the half hour mark. Another Nigerian, Anthony Nwakaeme was also in action for Al Feiha. The trio of Onyekuru, Nwakaeme and Ighalo played for the entire duration of the encounter.
In Spain: Super Falcons star Toni Payne was on target for Sevilla who lost 2-1 to Rasheedat Ajibade’s Atletico Madrid in the Spanish women’s league on Saturday.
Payne scored with 10 minutes into the second half to make it 1-1, and has now scored two goals in four appearances in the league for Sevilla.
Her compatriot, Rasheedat Ajibade was in action for 79 minutes in the encounter.
